About me
When I arrived in Australia and lived Cairns, the only running I did was between my flat and the pub getting out of the tropical rain. All this changed when I moved to Sydney in the mid-90s and watched my first City to Surf. I was hooked and the rest is history as they say. A few City to Surfs and a couple of half marathons later I finished my first full marathon running the Sydney Olympic Marathon in 2001.
All corporate sponsors who donate $1000 or more to The Fred Hollows Foundation will in return earn exposure of name/product on our running gear and equipment as well as a link to their company's website from these pages.
Running races is expensive, and equipment has to be changed on a regular basis. As an example, I need an average of five or six pairs of running shoes each year. Supplements and race nutrition are also an important and expensive part of a runner's budget.
My blind running partner Ben and I would love to acquire a tandem bicycle, so that we can differentiate our training in the future.
Any serious sponsor for our equipment please contact me to discuss your involvement in our fundraising efforts. Please call me on +61 400 627 587 or email to info@run4vision.com.
My favourite races so far
2003 and 2010 The Comrades – probably one of the highlights of any runner's itinerary. Running across South African’s countryside. Encouraged by 100,000 specators and millions of viewers on TV screens, running into a packed stadium after cruelling 90 kilometres is an unforgettable experience.
2009 The North Face 100 – a great 100-km ultramarathon near Sydney in the Blue Moutains.
2008 Marathon des Sables – raising money for The Fred Hollows Foundation and finishing an incredible 245km journey across the Moroccan desert in 38 hours.
2007 and 2010 Glasshouse Mountain 100 – a great Australian event in beautiful Queensland countryside.
