Running the Sydney Marathon withBen

Running with Ben

In preparation for guiding my friend Francois in the 2010 Comrades, I joined the Achilles Running Club Sydney where I had the opportunity to train with visually impaired runners. There I met Ben Phillips who helped me to learn how to be a successful guide.

Ben and I are running without a tether, a technique rarely practised, as it requires a lot of trust from the visually impaired person.

Last year, we finished two half-marathons in Sydney, after which Ben was keen to have a go at his first full marathon ever this year.

After my return from an 8-month stint in Brisbane, Ben and I had only 10 weeks to get ready for the Sydney Marathon on 18 September. We finished in 4 hours and 56 minutes, and I am very proud of Ben's achievement on a very hot day.

I am currently planning new adventures with Ben, so please visit my blog for a regular update of stories and photos, and come back to this site to find out about upcoming events and fundraising activities.
